Project Update
At the Wednesday 19 February 2025 Ordinary Meeting of Council it was resolved that:
- Council proceed with the Concept Design Option B for the Colo Vale Railway Park in response to the community consultation outcomes and site-based constraints.
- That the Jurd Park Masterplan be reviewed to identify suitable location for inclusion of a modest pump track and skate facility, with construction to them be delivered through future funding opportunities.
Following community consultation in late 2024, Moduplay has been awarded the contract to build the Option B design (playspace and skate/learn to ride track).
With landowner approval secured by Transport Asset Manager (TAM), construction is anticipated to begin in late May 2025. Vegetation has started to be cleared from the site in preparation for these works, and we are aiming for the new park to open in August, subject to weather conditions.
Background Information
We recently sought community input on two options for an upgraded playspace at Colo Vale Railway Park. The park is located within walking distance of the Colo Vale Community Centre and the Colo Vale Heritage Train Station along Railway Avenue, Colo Vale.
The upgraded railway park will provide a range of benefits to residents and visitors of Colo Vale, including children and young people who will use it and the wider community around it. Further benefits include:
- Increased health and happiness where physical activity is encouraged
- A stronger community for families to connect, meet their neighbours and build a sense of belonging
- Creating a well-designed play area that enhances the look and feel of the local Colo Vale community
- The upgraded park will provide a social hub for children and young people through interactive play

Community Consultation
Drop-In Sessions
In partnership with the Colo Vale Community Association and the landowners of Railway Park, Transport Asset Manager (TAM), Council held two drop in face-to-face sessions.
These sessions provided an opportunity for the local Colo Vale community to share feedback about both options presented. These sessions were held at the Colo Vale Community Centre and Memorial Hall on Tuesday 26 November 2024 in the morning and afternoon.

Online Consultation
The community consultation period was open from Monday 18 November and closed on Sunday 8 December 2024. Council invited written submissions to be received from the community during this period. An online survey on this page was available for the community to complete and share feedback about which option was preferred during this time.
