Help shape your community's resilience

We’re working with communities across the Wingecarribee Shire to develop local Community Resilience Plans for four areas in our region, and we want to hear from you.

  1. Southern villages (Exeter, Penrose, Wingello, Canyonleigh and Bundanoon)
  2. Western villages (Medway, New Berrima, Berrima and Wombeyan Caves)
  3. Eastern villages (Burrawang/Wildes Meadow, Kangaloon, Glenquarry, Avoca/Fitzroy Falls and Robertson)
  4. Northern villages (Balmoral Village, Hill Top, Yerrinbool and Colo Vale)

These plans are all about helping our community prepare for and respond to future challenges like bushfires, floods, storms and other disruptions. They’ll capture what matters most to our community, what’s working well, and where we can improve.

We know that locals know their communities best. Your experiences, ideas and local knowledge will help shape practical, place-based plans that support stronger, more connected and prepared communities.

This project will deliver four plans across the Shire (Southern, Western, Eastern and Northern village groupings) and is supported by the NSW Government’s disaster risk reduction program.

We're working together to deliver this project

  • Wingecarribee Shire Council

Council is leading the project and ensuring outcomes reflect local priorities

  • CRED Consulting

CRED Consulting specialise in community-led resilience planning. They'll be supporting community engagement, research and plan development

  • You (the community)

Your experiences, ideas and local knowledge are central to shaping the plans

Take a few minutes to complete the survey and share what matters to you. Your input will directly inform the plans and future decision-making.

You can also drop a pin in the map below. This input will also inform the plans and decision-making around resilience.

What happens next?

We’ll use your feedback, along with targeted conversations and pop-up sessions, to develop draft plans. We’ll then come back to the community to share what we heard and test the ideas before finalising.

Your feedback is a way for you to share your thoughts and ideas on a particular issue or project. The goal is to make sure your voice and the community’s voices are heard and considered. It helps provide valuable insights, identify potential issues and suggest improvements. This way, decisions can be more inclusive, transparent and effective, reflecting what you and the community really needs and wants.

Responses to engagement projects are compiled and considered. When projects are reported to Council to make a decision a summary of community feedback will be included. Updates on projects will be included in these pages and elsewhere on Council's website.

Sometimes it takes some months to provide feedback to the community and to make a decision as further investigation is often needed. We are listening and we do take your suggestions on board!
