Background Information

Wingecarribee's Draft Community Strategic Plan (CSP) 2035 has been developed from consultation and conversations with community members through workshops, engagement at local community events, stakeholder meetings, surveys, drawing sheets and online discussions.

From these conversations, we've developed a Plan that guides the future direction and sets out a long-term plan for our Shire. It shares the vision and aspirations for the future of our community, offering opportunities for both older and younger generations to live and thrive together.

The CSP reflects our collective action – including government, community, individuals, not-for-profit organisations and businesses – ensuring that the whole of our community is working towards our shared vision for our Shire.

  • Purpose

The Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is a long-term vision guiding Wingecarribee’s future for the next 10+ years, reflecting community aspirations and ensuring collective action across government, businesses, and residents.

  • Review

The CSP is reviewed every 4 years to align with changing community needs and priorities, ensuring Wingecarribee's long-term planning stays on track.

  • Participate

Residents were encouraged to share their ideas and provide feedback during the public exhibition period, shaping a CSP that represents the community's shared vision and values.

Community Strategic Plan 2035 FAQs

Wingecarribee's Community Strategic Plan (CSP) guides the future direction of our Shire for the next 10+ years.

The CSP is a high-level vision for the future. It is our highest-level plan and reflects the aspirations of the broader community who call this place home. It is prepared with, and for, the community.

We review, or redevelop, the CSP for each new term of council, even though the plan’s horizon is looking forward 10+ years. It’s important to check in at these intervals to ensure that the CSP appropriately reflects the changing needs of the community.

The CSP must be endorsed (not adopted) by 30 June 2025. Council’s role is one of custodianship.

The plan is reviewed every four years, following an election. You can view our current Community Strategic Plan online here.

Each Council is required to develop a Community Strategic Plan on behalf of its community.

The Plan is developed by and for the community as a reference for Council, state government agencies, community groups, non-government organisations, businesses and individuals, who all play a part in building our future.

Yes, we sure do. You can read our current Wingecarribee Community Strategic Plan here.

While the Plan looks forward 10+ years, it is important for us to check in regularly to ensure the document stays aligned with our communities' needs and goals, so our long-term planning stays on track.

We review or redevelop the Community Strategic Plan for each new term of Council. Wingecarribee has grown, so we're redeveloping our Community Strategic Plan to ensure the Wingecarribee of the future meets your needs.

The community vision is our north star; it is our guiding principle for shaping the future of the Wingecarribee Shire.

The purpose of a Community Vision Statement is to outline the collective aspirations and goals of a group of people, usually within a geographic location (such as a city, town, or neighbourhood).

It focuses on creating a shared future that benefits the community as a whole.

The statement in the Draft Community Strategic Plan is:

By 2035 Wingecarribee will be the best place in NSW for all generations to live.

The Community Strategic Plan is divided into 5 key themes that act as a focus area for our efforts.

Based on previous community consultations the below statements have been developed to represent what the Wingecarribee community values.

  • PEOPLE: It’s welcoming here. Families thrive, and people of all generations live together in a diverse, connected community.
  • PLACE: It’s easy to live, work and play here. We have what we need to feel at home; each of our towns and villages are unique and we value our natural spaces.
  • ENVIRONMENT: We value our natural living environment. We protect, maintain and regenerate our natural environment and the lifestyle it supports for future generations.
  • ECONOMY: We grow, support and promote local jobs, businesses, clean industry and investment.
  • LEADERSHIP: We are engaged, forward thinking and we work together for Wingecarribee.
