What will the new DCP include?

The new comprehensive DCP will provide new and enhanced objectives and controls for a range of developments and activities while also retaining and enhancing the existing character controls for our towns, villages and the spaces between. Read below some of elements that the DCP will cover
  • Low Density Housing

    Guidance for new low density housing and alterations and additions to existing housing including single houses, dual occupancies, secondary dwellings (also referred to as 'granny flats') and ancillary development such as studios, swimming pools and ball courts.

  • Medium Density Housing

    Guidance for a range of medium density housing types including townhouses and residential flat buildings (as pictured above).

  • Heritage Sites & Areas

    Guidance for sympathetic changes to heritage items and buildings and sites within heritage and landscape conservation areas. Also includes guidance on how existing heritage items are respected by development on nearby sites.

  • Town Centre Development & Land Uses

    Guidance for new buildings, land uses and public domain treatments in our town centres, including provision for housing (e.g. shop top housing), providing for vibrant and safe streets and opportunities for employment.
