Background Information

Council's draft Incoming Sponsorship Policy was adopted at the Ordinary Meeting of Council - Wednesday 18 June 2025, following a 28-day public exhibition period during which no submissions were received.

Following its adoption, discussions identified the need to expand the policy's scope to also cover incoming donations. This was done to ensure both sponsorships and donations are managed with the same high standards of probity, transparency, and strategic alignment.

Council recognises that these valuable contributions can enhance community programs and services, but they must always be accepted and managed in a way that upholds the highest level of governance.

The revised Policy provides a clear framework to ensure that all incoming sponsorships and donations:

  • Align with the Wingecarribee 2035 Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program, and Council’s values
  • Are assessed and approved in a consistent, transparent, and ethical manner
  • Do not compromise, or appear to compromise, Council’s independence, impartiality, or decision-making
  • Deliver demonstrable public benefit to the Wingecarribee community

Your feedback is a way for you to share your thoughts and ideas on a particular issue or project. The goal is to make sure your voice and the community’s voices are heard and considered. It helps provide valuable insights, identify potential issues and suggest improvements. This way, decisions can be more inclusive, transparent and effective, reflecting what you and the community really needs and wants.

Responses to engagement projects are compiled and considered. When projects are reported to Council to make a decision a summary of community feedback will be included. Updates on projects will be included in these pages and elsewhere on Council's website.

Sometimes it takes some months to provide feedback to the community and to make a decision as further investigation is often needed. We are listening and we do take your suggestions on board!
