Background Information
The Outdoor Dining and Goods on Footpath Policy has been developed to outline the use of footpaths and other similar public domain areas for outdoor dining and placement of goods within the Wingecarribee Shire Local Government area.
Council supports and encourages the provision of outdoor dining areas and goods on footpaths as they contribute to a vibrant and diverse community. We are committed to facilitating outdoor dining in a way that balances the needs of businesses with the broader community and enhance tourism.
Outdoor dining includes tables, chairs, benches and other facilities used for the service of food and beverages on Council managed footpaths, plazas and arcades. The footpaths, plazas and arcades managed by Council are all located within the road reserve and so the approval of outdoor dining in these areas is administered in accordance with the Roads Act 1993.
The Draft policy was on public exhibition for a period of 28 days from Friday 22 November until Thursday 20 December 2024. Residents were invited to provide feedback on the draft policy during this time. The policy was adopted by Council at the Wednesday 19 February Ordinary Meeting of Council.
