Proposal to waive fees and charges for the use of community village halls and the Senior's Rooms in Corbett Gardens to conduct Festival of Lights Christmas activities

At its meeting on 21 September 2022 Council considered a report to waive fees and charges for the hire of Council facilities for the Festival of Lights which is being delivered through Business Southern Highlands (BSH).

A request has been received from BSH to waive fees and charges for the hire of Council facilities of up to $7,000 for community village halls and the Senior's Rooms in Corbett Gardens associated with the Festival of Lights in accordance with Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Council recognises the essential role that Business Southern Highlands plays as the peak body for business in the Southern Highlands. The chamber covers all areas of the Southern Highlands and aims to empower businesses to be successful in the local area. Business Southern Highlands consists of elected local residents that work closely with the local business community.

At the meeting held on 21 September 2022, Council resolved:

THAT:

1. Council approve the waiver of fees and charges for the use of community village halls and the Seniors’ Rooms in Corbett Gardens to conduct Festival of Lights Christmas activities.

2. Council undertake a 28-day public notification period in relation to waiving the hire fees up to $7,000 for community village halls and the Senior’s Rooms in Corbett gardens associated with the Festival of Lights in accordance with Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993.
