Proposal to waive fees for outdoor dining and product display for businesses adjacent to the site of the building fire on the corner of Bong Bong Street and Wingecarribee Street Bowral

14 September 2022

At its meeting on 20 July 2022 Council considered a report to waive fees for outdoor dining and product display for businesses adjacent to the site of the building fire on the corner of Bong Bong Street and Wingecarribee Street Bowral.

Businesses adversely impacted by the fire and temporary security of the development site have sought assistance from Council which is responding with this initiative to waive outdoor dining and product display fees. There are currently no active licenses for the relevant businesses. If fees are waived, future use of the footway would represent income foregone to Council of approximately $52.40 per annum/per square metre.

At the meeting held on 20 July 2022, Council resolved:

THAT: Fees be waived for outdoor dining and product display from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024 for businesses on Bong Bong Street between Wingecarribee Street and Merrigang Street, east side; and Wingecarribee Street between Bong Bong Street and Station Street, north side. Council write to the impacted businesses to advise of the outcome of this report.

Council is now undertaking a 28 day public notification period to waive the fees for outdoor dining and product display for businesses adjacent to the site of the building fire on the corner of Bong Bong Street and Wingecarribee Street Bowral.
