Background:

Council is undertaking a review of the Low-Density Residential Development Controls following extensive community and industry consultation events held in 2022.

This review focuses solely on the low-density housing controls contained within the area-based Development Control Plan for the Wingecarribee Shire. The review does not consider population growth, land re-zonings, housing needs/affordability or the desired future character of our towns and villages. Council is undertaking other separate projects to address these concerns.

Aims and Objectives:
  • Achieve the provision of a clear planning framework that is easy to use, understand and implement without undermining the local character of our towns and villages.
  • Streamline the assessment and approvals process.
  • Ensure new development is responsive to the Southern Highlands context and character.
