Background information

Our libraries play a vital and valued role in shaping the cultural and social character of the Wingecarribee Shire.

Council has developed a new Library Plan to ensure libraries continue to support our community as hubs for creativity, knowledge and connectivity.

Libraries in Wingecarribee have long been well loved and well used by the community.

The development of this plan will allow our libraries to respond to current and future community needs for spaces and services, programming, collections, resources and emerging technology. It will help to better inform and direct service development and delivery for the next five years.

Below are some key facts and figures that our libraries experienced during the 2024/25 period:

  • Loans

Our libraries loaned a total of 315,193 items

  • Events

We hosted 763 library events and 8,824 people attended

  • Visits

A total of 138,509 people visited our libraries

Community Engagement

Community engagement

Wingecarribee Libraries Plan 2026–2031 has been shaped through meaningful engagement with our community.

Between August – November 2025, we gathered insights through a range of activities, including Participate Wingecarribee, Lend a Thought boxes, Ideas Lounge sessions, focus groups, interviews, pop-up consultations, and an Ideas Lab.

The consultation involved over 750 residents, library members, community groups, library staff, sector professionals, educators, and Council staff. During this period, we recorded 452 visits to Participate Wingecarribee and 169 contributions, alongside valuable in-person conversations and written feedback.

This collaborative approach ensures the Plan reflects the diverse voices, ideas, and priorities of the community.

Online Survey

Your feedback is a way for you to share your thoughts and ideas on a particular issue or project. The goal is to make sure your voice and the community’s voices are heard and considered. It helps provide valuable insights, identify potential issues and suggest improvements. This way, decisions can be more inclusive, transparent and effective, reflecting what you and the community really needs and wants.

Responses to engagement projects are compiled and considered. When projects are reported to Council to make a decision a summary of community feedback will be included. Updates on projects will be included in these pages and elsewhere on Council's website.

Sometimes it takes some months to provide feedback to the community and to make a decision as further investigation is often needed. We are listening and we do take your suggestions on board!
