What do you think about backyard burning?

12 February 2015

This consultation has now concluded but you can still view related information using the links below.
Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking feedback on the issue of backyard burning and you're invited to comment.

A lot has changed in our Shire over the 12 years since our current Backyard Burning Policy was adopted and it’s now time for a review.

At present, backyard burning of dry or dead garden waste is not permitted in the major town areas of Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale on properties less than 4,000 square metres or in medium density zones.

Complete our online survey to share your knowledge of the backyard burning rules, current practices and attitudes to backyard burning. Printed copies of the survey can also be collected from our libraries and Civic Centre.

Our project page also hosts a short video clip describing the current rules, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, a media release and the link to the Backyard Burning Survey.

A future opportunity to comment will be provided during public exhibition of the draft policy which will occur around the middle of the year. Any subsequent changes to the backyard burning rules would be introduced gradually during 2015 and 2016.

Your opinion is important to us.

Please take a few minutes to review the associated documents, ask a question, or complete a survey before 5pm Tuesday 31 March 2015.
