Balmoral Village and Surrounds Oral History Project

22 November 2022

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Wingecarribee Shire Council will be commissioning a trained and experienced practitioner to create an oral history project. The purpose of this project is to preserve the memories and experiences of individuals who are connected to Balmoral Village, including current and former residents and others familiar with the community. The role of the practitioner is to record, collect, and archive these recordings to provide future generations an opportunity to explore local history.

This is also an opportunity for the people of Balmoral Village who were impacted by the Green Wattle Creek fire of 2019 to discuss their experience of that landmark event. The practitioner records ‘whole-of-life’ oral history interviews. Interviewees will be professionally led and consulted throughout the process to decide who gets to listen to the recording and how the material is managed.

This project is funded through the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program.

If you would like to be one of the voices and tell your story in the oral history project, we would love to hear from you.
