New Community Garden Grows Connection in Wingello

6 May 2026

Wingello Community Garden

Delivered by the Wingello Village Association, with support from Council’s Mayoral Relief Fund via the GIVIT Foundation, the project shows what strong collaboration can achieve. Council staff worked across teams and alongside the Wingello community to bring the garden to life, from concept to completion.

The space has been designed to be inclusive and accessible for all ages. It supports connection, shared learning and wellbeing. It also complements the new Wingello Playgroup, Bush Babies, with hands-on activities like planting, sensory play and community learning.

The opening event included several formalities including speeches and a special morning tea hosted by the village association, including Wingello Village Association President, Margaret Fitzpatrick. Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick shared his appreciation for the dedication and team effort behind the project, noting that these projects would not be possible without it.

Located in the Casburn Park precinct, the space was buzzing during the event with the garden, pump track, hall and play area in full swing on a beautiful sunny autumn day.

The Mayoral Relief Fund was established as part of Council’s bushfire response and recovery. It continues to support grassroots projects that build resilience, wellbeing and local connection.

The Wingello Bush Babies is held at the Wingello Machanics Hall, every Tuesday at 10am.
